Description:

The Master of Bread Cafe in Daw Park is seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join its kitchen team. The Cook will prepare and cook a variety of café-style meals, ensure food is presented to a high standard, and maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety. They will work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to support smooth service and deliver excellent dining experiences for guests. Previous experience in a similar role and a passion for good food are preferred.

Task & responsibilities

• Inspect and assess food items to ensure quality and freshness.
• Operate and regulate ovens, grills, and other kitchen equipment at appropriate temperatures.
• Prepare, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to menu standards.
• Enhance and refine flavours throughout the cooking process to ensure consistent and high quality taste profiles 
• Portion food accurately, plate dishes, and add sauces, gravies, and garnishes as required.
• Store food safely in temperature-controlled environments to maintain quality and comply with food safety standards. 
• Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements when requested.
• Assist with menu planning and estimating food requirements when needed. 
• Support and train junior kitchen staff and apprentices as required.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or equivalent work experience 
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
