Jardine Motel is seeking an experienced and reliable Housekeeping Supervisor to lead and coordinate housekeeping operations for our accommodation facility on Thursday Island. This is a hands-on supervisory role responsible for ensuring guest rooms and public areas are maintained to a high standard, supporting housekeeping staff during daily operations, and working closely with other departments to ensure a positive guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the day-to-day work of housekeeping staff during assigned shifts
Allocate rooms and duties to housekeeping team members to ensure timely room turnaround and productivity targets are met
Inspect guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are consistently achieved
Release rooms on time in coordination with front office and operational requirements
Respond to guest enquiries, requests, and complaints in a professional and courteous manner
Coordinate housekeeping workflow to meet daily deadlines and operational needs
Train and support housekeeping staff to maintain consistent service standards
Liaise with maintenance and front office teams regarding room readiness, repairs, and guest requirements
Monitor laundry processes, waste disposal, and stock usage as required
Ensure safe manual handling practices and Workplace Health and Safety procedures are followed at all times
Assist with staff rostering and ensure appropriate coverage during shifts
Support budget controls and efficient use of housekeeping resources

Skills and Experience

Proven experience in housekeeping or accommodation services, including supervisory or team-leading responsibilities
Strong knowledge of cleaning standards for guest rooms and public areas
Ability to coordinate staff, prioritise tasks, and work to tight deadlines
Experience responding to guest requests and maintaining high levels of customer service
Sound understanding of WHS requirements, including safe manual handling
Practical skills in cleaning, stock control, and basic maintenance coordination
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and lead by example
Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused approach
