SAWAL PTY. LTD.  trading as Cafe 65 is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of high-quality café dishes, ensuring consistent taste, presentation, and freshness. The Chef will maintain a clean, organised kitchen environment, follow food safety and hygiene standards, and work closely with the team to deliver excellent dining experiences for guests. Previous experience in a similar role and a genuine passion for creating great food are essential

Task & responsibilities

• Plan menus, calculate food and labour costs, and manage the ordering of ingredients and supplies.
• Oversee the quality of dishes throughout preparation and presentation stages.
• Liaise with managers, dietitians, and kitchen and service staff regarding food preparation matters.
• Demonstrate cooking techniques and provide guidance on preparation methods.
• Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Assist in the selection and training of kitchen staff where required.
• Oversee food preservation processes, including freezing and storage procedures

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent work experience 
• Minimum 1 year of experience in related field.
• In-depth knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen operations 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
