Task & responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with the restaurant’s established recipes and instructions provided by the Chef 
• Provide assistance with menu planning when required Carry out food preparation tasks across designated kitchen sections, including chopping, marinating, portioning and assembling ingredients to ensure consistency and quality 
• Cook and present dishes according to standard portion sizes and plating guidelines set by the kitchen management 
• Store, label and rotate food items in line with stock control procedures and first in, first out principles 
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, utensils and kitchen equipment in accordance with food safety requirements 
• Comply at all times with hygiene, health and safety regulations and company policies 
• Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries to ensure ingredients meet quality and freshness standards 
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during service periods to ensure meals are prepared and served efficiently 
• Report any issues relating to stock levels, equipment faults or food quality to the Chef or kitchen supervisor promptly

Qualification & experience

• Minimum of one year proven full-time experience related to Cook in a high-volume or fast-paced kitchen environment
• Formal qualifications in Commercial Cooker/ Kitchen Management (Certificate III minimum or equivalent) or if no formal qualification, a minimum of three years work experience performing tasks as a Cook. 
• Comprehensive knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and strict adherence to hygiene and safety practices
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure while working collaboratively as part of a professional kitchen team
• Strong communication skills with the capacity to identify and resolve problems quickly and effectively
• Demonstrated flexibility with a positive, can-do attitude, and availability to work across a rotating roster including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
