Task & responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of kitchen duties, including but not limited to:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals in line with menu standards
  • Assist with menu development, specials, and seasonal dishes
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and inventory management
  • Minimise food waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during busy service periods
  • Assist with kitchen prep, including sauces, garnishes, and mise en place
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Support a positive, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

Qualification & experience

To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or higher)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in established hospitality venues with a proven track record of strong performance
  • Passion for food with knowledge across a variety of cuisines and modern cooking techniques
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with sound decision-making ability
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and perform well in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment
