The Hotel/Motel Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the property to ensure a high standard of guest service, smooth workflow, and efficient business performance. This role requires strong leadership, operational knowledge, and the ability to manage staff, facilities, and guest services while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.

Task & responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all guest‑facing operations including reservations, reception, room service, and housekeeping
  • Supervise property‑wide maintenance, including security arrangements, landscaping, gardens, and facility upkeep
  • Plan and manage bar, restaurant, function, and conference activities
  • Ensure full compliance with liquor licensing, gaming/arcade regulations, and all relevant local laws
  • Monitor customer satisfaction, review feedback, and implement service improvements
  • Oversee financial operations including budgeting, purchasing, invoicing, revenue control, and collections
  • Manage room rates, bookings, and yield strategies based on market trends and occupancy forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards
  • Provide guests with local tourism information and assist with arranging tours and transportation
  • Administer payroll and creditor accounts through group accounting systems
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, including managing the business’s online presence and social media accounts
  • Lead recruitment, training, rostering, and performance management of staff
  • Maintain operational records and prepare reports to support business planning and compliance
  • Oversee cost‑control measures including wage management and operational expenditure
  • Facilitate breakfast service through in‑room delivery where applicable

Qualification & experience

  • Diploma in Hospitality Management (or equivalent)
  • Experience working as a hotel or motel manager for 3-4 years
  • Good understanding of reservations, reception and guest services
  • Basic knowledge of liquor, gaming, and safety rules
  • Able to manage budgets, invoices, and daily financial tasks
  • Strong leadership and staff supervision skills
  • Good communication and customer service abilities
  • Able to work independently and make daily operational decisions
